Financial Advisor, Raymond James
Matt enjoys building ongoing relationships and helping people design their financial future through investment and risk management, retirement, estate and insurance planning. What he enjoys most is seeing firsthand the positive impact that comprehensive financial planning can have on families’ lives. By taking a long-term approach to working with clients, he helps them plan and pursue their goals over time.
A trustworthy professional, he believes clients must feel comfortable with their financial advisor before reviewing their personal goals and revealing the details of their financial picture. By paying attention to all of the intricacies of his clients’ lives and helping them identify and articulate short-, mid- and long-term financial goals, he’s able to build and manage a financial plan designed to stand the test of time.
Matt was attracted to the financial services industry because of his natural interest and strength in economics and mathematics. Starting as a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial, his responsibilities grew and he held positions including district manager, branch manager and complex director over 12 years with the company.
He joined Raymond James in 2015, as he believes the firm offers an independent, unbiased, nonproprietary approach to financial solutions. His personal goals for clients also align with the firm’s philosophy to provide the highest quality of service, maintain a financial-planning focus and deliver the industry-leading capabilities that true wealth management advisors and clients need at their fingertips.
Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University, and holds Series 7, 66, 24, 9, 10 and life and health insurance licenses. As an Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM, he adheres to standards of professional conduct and completed a course of study covering investments, insurance, tax, retirement and estate planning issues.
Matt works closely with Hallie Hicks, Director of Operations. View her Bio.
I was raised by my parents to treat people as you’d like to be treated, and to put yourself in the shoes of others as best you can to understand their perspective. They are lessons I apply not only in my personal life, but in the way I treat my clients and empathize with their goals, needs and concerns.
I grew up in neighboring Connecticut, but today live in Littleton, Massachusetts, with my wife, Melissa, and our children, Emma and Owen. When not working with clients, I enjoy coaching and playing soccer, skiing, golfing, playing tennis and spending time with my family, which I cherish greatly.
I have an affinity for undertaking major home projects, such as re-designing or expanding a room. Another goal I would definitely like to get off the ground is to learn how to fly a plane.
